According to the record book of Lithuania, the “Iron Fox” sculpture is the largest animal sculpture: it weighs nearly 7 tons, is around 15 meters long and 6,6 meters high.

The fox contains a 1,2-meter-tall and 0,9-meter-wide steel heart, inside of which there is a capsule with an engraved message for future generations. The mind behind the sculpture, designer Vilius Puronas,  constructed it in 2009 to commemorate the millennium of the first recorded use of the name of Lithuania. The designer joked about Vilnius having a legend about an iron wolf, so Šiauliai should be able to boast about the iron fox – the symbol of cunningness and wisdom. It was erected on the coast of the Talkša lake on 23rd of December, 2009.
