Šilutė Old Protestant Cemetery Complex

The old Evangelical-Lutheran cemetery in Šilutė is a valuable piece of the architectural, historical and cultural heritage. Nowadays little is known about this historical site as majority of the Evangelical church archives perished while the remaining documents ended up in Germany. To add insult to an injury, the grave monuments that could have provided valuable information about the cemetery’s history were severely damaged by the Soviets.

In 1907 the chapel restoration was implemented.

The cemetery also hosts graves of bookmakers Sekunai and Štaliai, and Sudermann family graves.
